Here comes Navratri along with celebrations. And with it comes 9 days of fasting. Fasting for a long time can bring your body troubles and make you feel weak. Here are some fasting tips for navratri so that you feel light and detox and not drained out!
 
1. Fast Don’t Starve
Eat small meals to maintain blood glucose levels and prevent you from feeling low. This way you are not depriving your body with required energy.
 
2. Keep Yourself Hydrated
Health comes first. Drink lots of fluids like coconut water, lemon water, green tea and buttermilk.
 
3. Intake of All nutrients
Combine high carbohydrates like potatoes and sabudana with other fibrous vegetables like spinach, cabbage, tomatoes, capsicum, bottle guard, etc. Also try to bake, roast or grill vegetables instead of deep-frying them.
 
4. Easily Digestible   
Samak rice is an easy to digest food of navratri. It can be consumed in any quantity.
 
5. Avoid Sugary and Packaged Foods
Curb those evil sugar cravings by eating a lot of fruits raita, dates, apple kheer, samak ricekheer. Try and adopt healthy snacking and don’t binge on namkeens packets as they are high in salt and fat content.Instead, opt for roasted makhana, mix of nuts (almonds/raisins/walnut)/ baked chips, roasted peanuts, etc.) You can also substitute sugar with jaggery or honey.
